Bill Gates Rejects Capitalism, Demands Big Government Save Us From Imaginary Global Warming Menace

Economic liberty (a.k.a. capitalism) has been very very good to Bill Gates, making him one of the richest men in the world. He repays the favor by denouncing the free market and demanding that Big Government impose a command and control economy so as to combat the imaginary global warming menace. The Independent paraphrases his ravings to The Atlantic:

“There’s no fortune to be made. Even if you have a new energy source that costs the same as today’s and emits no CO2, it will be uncertain compared with what’s tried-and-true and already operating at unbelievable scale and has gotten through all the regulatory problems.

“Without a substantial carbon tax, there’s no incentive for innovators or plant buyers to switch.

“Since World War II, US-government R&D has defined the state of the art in almost every area. The private sector is in general inept.”

Windows certainly has its flaws, but it is better than anything you will get from Big Government. That’s why Gates is so rich. Too bad he is spending his money on increasingly pernicious attempts to convince everyone how righteously politically correct he is. At least this time he accidentally did some good, by underscoring the tyrannical nature of the phony global warming jihad.

He made his $billions; now he wants the rest of us scrunched down.
