Global Warming Study Canceled Because There’s Too Much Ice

Irony so thick, you need a shovel for it and perhaps an ice ax. In May, an expedition that set out to gather global warming evidence in the Arctic was forced to call it off. Why? Because the ice was too thick and the icebreaker was needed to rescue other ships. So much for that whole ‘global warming’ thing. The research vessel Amundsen was redirected by the Canadian Coast Guard to clear fishing lanes for boats and supply vessels. That includes the dreaded ‘oil tankers’.
“The Science Team of the Canadian Research Icebreaker CCGS Amundsen has canceled the first leg of the 2017 Expedition due to complications associated with the southward motion of hazardous Arctic sea ice,” the news site Science Daily reported. Sucks when your phony data is exposed for the lie that it is. The Amundsen is the second most powerful icebreaker in the country and it could barely get through the ice itself. That is very thick ice. This was a $17 million, four-year, University of Manitoba-led project. Because the ice was too thick, this meant the ship would arrive too late for its research objectives.
From the Conservative Tribune:
You can say this for bleeding-heart liberals: They certainly have a flair for the ironic.
An expedition designed to gather evidence of global warming and “climate change” in the Arctic was canceled last month after a humiliating discovery was made: There was so much ice in the Arctic that the icebreaker it was going to use was needed elsewhere.
Yes, you read that right. It’s the return of left-leaning scientists’ famous nemesis, “Reality.” And this time it affected plans for the research vessel Amundsen, which can be redirected by the Canadian Coast Guard if its icebreaking capabilities are required to clear lanes for fishing boats or supply vessels, such as oil tankers, according to the Winnipeg Free Press.
Amusingly, the scientists did not anticipate such thick ice on their trip. “It became clear to me very quickly that these weren’t just heavy ice conditions, these were unprecedented ice conditions,” Dr. David Barber, the lead scientist on the study. “We were finding thick multi-year sea ice floes which on level ice were five meters thick … it was much, much thicker and much, much heavier than anything you would expect at that latitude and at that time of year,” he continued. Maybe he should reevaluate his global warming assumptions.
These scientists could not get their predictions correct over the span of a couple of months… so you can see why their predictions over a hundred years or more are absolute bull feces. Global warming activists are now arguing that the Amundsen’s reassignment because of increased sea ice is proof that a warming arctic is sending greater floes into the sea lanes as Arctic ice shears. I don’t believe that for a second. This isn’t the first time a global warming study has been wrong… it happens regularly and predictably. These people should use real data and research, not faux science based on a political agenda.
