The Ballot Box Should Be As Secure As A NAACP Convention

Know what irony is? It’s the: NAACP demanding journalists show an ID to see Eric Holder speak[1]: even as Holder and the NAACP fight to prevent states from asking for voter ID.

Holder had: this to say in his speech[2], which as you’ll note, was in Texas.

“In our efforts to protect voting rights and to prevent voting fraud, we will be vigilant and strong. But let me be clear, let me be very, very clear: We will not allow political pretexts to disenfranchise American citizens of their most precious right,” Holder said.

After his speech, NAACP delegates passed an “emergency resolution” that resolved the organization to “strongly support” Holder’s efforts.

In Texas’ lawsuit against Holder, the state asks the court to strike down a section of the Voting Rights Act that requires Texas and a handful of other states to get changes to voting laws precleared by the Justice Department. The agency struck down Texas’ voter ID law in March, saying 600,000 people in the state don’t have the kind of ID the state would require of voters and a disproportional amount of those residents are Latino.

So Eric Holder and the NAACP are allowed to ask for ID to make sure their event is secure, but voters who want to have the same kind of security are supposed to be bigots who’re trying to disenfranchise voters for political purposes? I guess they’re racists just like the airports, the banks, and the ABC stores — oh wait, none of them are racist either. Apparently, the only people who are supposed to be racists are the ones who want to make sure that our elections aren’t being swung by the dead, illegal aliens, and union members bused in from three states over.
