Hands Up – Don’t Sue

This is how the left works when they don’t get what they want. First they uncover, or magically discover, a failing at the individual, local or state level. Then after publically announcing the failure, they suggest that the failure should be changed. They advertise compliance with their “suggestions” as being voluntary. But compliance is only voluntary if the party or parties follow through to the government’s content. If those being “suggested” to comply or change their behavior are slow in doing so, the federal authority will shift from suggestion-mode to poke and prod-mode.

But what happens if the local or state authority decides instead to give the feds the one-finger solute instead of entertaining change?

If this were a constitutionally adherent federal government, they would say that maybe we don’t like it but it is the individual state or community’s right to govern themselves with minimum interference at the federal level.

But of course that’s a silly and antiquated notion. We all know that states and localities can’t govern themselves. They don’t have thousands of Harvard educated governmental experts to guide them. They don’t really know what they want. No, only the federal government experts know what’s good for them and it’s not the fault of our federal government if local yokels can’t understand this. In other words – the feds gotta do what the feds gotta do to save us from ourselves.

And this is exactly what is happening in Ferguson Missouri. The race hustling, Obama puppet Attorney General of the United States, Loretta Lynch has filed a civil rights lawsuit against the city of Ferguson because they refuse to comply with her demands.

We all remember Ferguson – the site of the completely fabricated and utterly bogus “Hands Up, Don’t Shoot” incident and its namesake, the late Michael Brown. Of course we know the whole Black Lives Matter movement is predicated on the demonstrable lie that the late thug Brown was some kind of a victim of police brutality.

But this matters not to the Obama Justice department. The goal of Justice is to help federalize as much of the country as it can before his term ends. It won’t happen over night. It may be like Baltimore, where ten federal agents were embedded in their homicide unit. Then slowly, quietly, the federal influence will expand. It’s the key to progressivism. Just establish the framework. Once that is done, the precedent has been set and more often than not, there’s no going back.

The lawsuit alleges violations of “the 1st, the 4th, and the 14th Amendments of the Constitution and federal civil rights laws.”

Lynch says that, “We intend to aggressively prosecute this case, and we intend to prevail.” Tough talk coming from someone who won’t do the same to criminal illegal aliens or terrorists.

The supposed civil rights violations “were driven at least in part by racial bias, and they occurred disproportionately against African-American residents of Ferguson, and they were profoundly and fundamentally unconstitutional,” Lynch added. It couldn’t be that the majority of crime has been perpetrated by blacks, could it? If so, what are the cops supposed to do? Oh, that’s right – catch and release like the illegals, or just stand down like the border patrol was ordered to do. And did I mention that Ferguson is almost 70% black, so it’s more than likely perfectly proportionate.

And as for Lynch throwing the word “Constitution” around – that’s a laugh. It may be the first time in 7-1/2 years anyone in this administration has even mentioned it.

If the Ferguson city council were to have accepted Lynch’s consent decree, estimates are it “would cost the city up to $3.7 million, prompting concerns that it might bankrupt the city. The changes are estimated to cost $1.8 million to $3 million in each of the second and third years.”

But really, how can one put a price on social justice. And I’m sure the feds would be more than happy to help out the cash strapped city of Ferguson with a federal loan. And don’t worry – there won’t be strings attached. They don’t really want to federalize your city.
