“I believe the NRA is the new KKK. And that the arming of so many black youths, uh, and loading up our community with drugs, and then just having an open shooting gallery, is the work of people who obviously don’t have our best interests [at heart].” –Sportswriter Jason Whitlock
First of all, congrats to Jason Whitlock for carrying on the liberal tradition of calling anything he doesn’t like racist regardless of whether it has anything to do with race. It’s stupid, but at least it’s consistently stupid. Of course, adding that to the wacky conspiracy theory that the NRA is somehow sending drugs to black Americans and then giving them guns is so bizarre it makes you wonder if Whitlock is even competent to write about sports, but if competence or sanity were needed to spout off about issues, then no one would know who Roseanne Barr is – am I right?
But, let’s get back to Whitlock’s original point, “the NRA is the new KKK.”
What exactly makes the NRA the new KKK?
* Is it the fact that the NRA thinks a black woman should be able to defend herself from a man intent on raping her?
* Is it the fact that the NRA believes a black man should have a way to defend his family against a group of gang members trying to break in?
* Is it that the NRA believes a black couple should have a way to stop a group of KKK members from lynching them at will?
* Is it that the NRA thinks a black mother should have a way to fend off a pedophile intent on kidnapping and molesting her child?
See, in Jason Whitlock’s dream world, that black woman would be raped, that black man’s family would be murdered, that black couple would be lynched and that child would be kidnapped and molested. On the other hand, the NRA believes that those innocent people have a constitutional right to defend themselves.
You want to talk about real equality? Well, there’s an old saying that goes,“God made man, but Samuel Colt made them equal.”: The NRA believes in exactly that kind of equality while Jason Whitlock believes in the world where the most depraved, dangerous and criminal among us are more equal than everyone else because of their willingness to engage in wanton violence against people who’ll be prevented from protecting themselves.
