One Way or Another – We Are The Cause of Terrorism

Western Leftists are really struggling to explain the rise of ISIS, the resurgence of al-Qaeda and radical Islamic terrorism in general. Liberals desperately grasp at anything they can point to as the cause(s) for terrorism – because it just has to be our fault. Somehow we brought this upon ourselves.

Bernie Sanders, the Vermont curmudgeon, claims that climate change is to blame. We on the right laugh at the idea, but Time.com http://time.com/4113801/climate-change-terrorism/[2] last month reported that “many academics and national security experts agree that climate change contributes to an uncertain world where terrorism can thrive.” These Obama sycophants in academe and the “researchers” at the new and improved Department of Defense will say and do anything to advance the president’s climate change, wealth distribution agenda, and to keep their funding rolling in and save their jobs.

 

Time references a 2014 DOD http://www.acq.osd.mil/ie/download/CCARprint_wForeword_c.pdf[3] report as proof of the expert claims. Although the report is a full 20 pages long, one has only to read a portion of the forward, which states: “The responsibility of the Department of Defense is the security of our country. Among the future trends that will impact our national security is climate change. In our defense strategy, we refer to climate change as a ‘threat multiplier’ because it has the potential to exacerbate many of the challenges we are dealing with today – from infectious disease to terrorism. We are already beginning to see some of these impacts.”

 

The report is stunning! The only thing they get right is the first sentence. If, to this point, you haven’t been worried about our security, I suggest you start. If this is what the great military minds at the Pentagon are concerned with, we are in worse trouble than I thought, as it appears Obama has successfully co-opted everyone short of the boots on the ground.

 

We on the right understand what the mission of military is. By the report’s fist sentence, you would think they do also, but you’d be mistaken. According to the report our military, the finest fighting force in the world “could be called upon more often to support civil authorities, and provide humanitarian assistance and disaster relief in the face of more frequent and more intense natural disasters.” Obama is turning our military into the Salvation Army.

 

Yet don’t we hear from climate change “experts” that the threat is still 50 to 100 years out? It’s always 30, 50 or 100 years out.

 

So if climate change isn’t causing the Islamic unwashed to rise up, what is? You think the left wouldn’t have a backup plan? Of course they do. As one leftist faction is pushing the climate cause, another is promoting inequality. As I said – one way or another, terrorism will be determined to be our fault.

 

To make this argument they trot out our old buddy, the French socialist Thomas Piketty. You may recall some hoopla that arose last year over his ridiculous book, “Capital In the Twenty First Century.” I wrote of it and him. Piketty is all about inequality – this time in the Middle East, as the Washington Post   https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/wonk/wp/2015/11/30/why-inequality-is-to-blame-for-the-rise-of-the-islamic-state/?tid=sm_tw[5] gleefully reports on an article he penned in the French newspaper Le Monde. In it, “Piketty writes that the Middle East’s political and social system has been made fragile by the high concentration of oil wealth into a few countries with relatively little population,” and “you find several oil monarchies controlling between 60 and 70 percent of wealth, while housing just a bit more than 10 percent of the 300 million people living in that area.”

 

Wow! Does this not sound familiar? America steals 178% of the world’s resources yet has only 2% of the world’s population – or some such nonsense. And by the way – who buys all that dirty oil? That’s right, the United States. Piketty says, “Those economic conditions have become justifications for jihadists, along with the casualties of a series of wars in the region perpetuated by Western powers.”

 

And there you have it. It’s our fault. We created the jihadists, terrorism and the Caliphate. 

There’s a problem with these theories. Climate change, as the name implies, has been occurring since the earth developed a climate, well before humans and certainly before our founding. And how does one explain the last great jihad, the last “great Caliphate,” the Ottoman Empire, well before there was a United States or the discovery of oil – not to mention the world’s other impoverished nations who don’t feel the need to blow us up or cut our heads off.
