That sure didn’t take long and is truly and deeply disappointing. Kára McCullough was just crowned Miss USA. She is a nuclear scientist and during the pageant, she stated that she felt healthcare was a privilege and not a right… and she was absolutely right. That was until liberals got a hold of her. Now, she has done a complete flip flop on it, calling healthcare a ‘right’. Wonder if they threatened to strip her of her crown? It wouldn’t surprise me. What does surprise me is that she caved so completely and quickly.
She called it ‘clarification’. I call it ‘capitulation’. Just shameful. Kara blamed the time limit on her response. Really? Geez. She originally said: “I’m definitely going to say it’s a privilege. As a government employee, I am granted healthcare. And I see firsthand that for one to have healthcare, you need to have jobs. So therefore, we need to continue to cultivate this environment that we’re given the opportunities to have healthcare as well as jobs to all the American citizens worldwide.” Which, I cheered until just now when she did a 180 on it for ‘clarification’.
From The Daily Wire:
As predicted by anyone paying attention to what happens when a high-profile figure — particularly someone who embodies “diversity” — fails to properly promote the orthodox progressive agenda, after being crucified by the left for saying healthcare is “privilege,” not a right, the newly crowned Miss USA has been compelled to “clarify” her comments.
“I am privileged to have healthcare, and I do believe it should be a right,” Kára McCullough told ABC’s Good Morning America Tuesday morning following an “online firestorm” over what should have been a completely non-controversial comment.
McCullough made the statement in response to host Michael Strahan asking her about her statement during the competition that healthcare is a “privilege,” rather than a right. When Strahan asked if she was surprised by the strong reaction online, McCullough said, “Not at all. I believe that is what America is based on… having opinions and views.” But in what was obviously a rehearsed retraction, she went on to “clarify” what she really meant to say.
“But I would like to just take this moment to truly just clarify, because I am a woman, I’m gonna own what I said,” she said. “I am privileged to have healthcare, and I do believe it should be a right. I hope and pray moving forward that healthcare is a right for all, worldwide.”
Doesn’t anyone out there have ANY principles anymore? I don’t care who is in office or who is in your political party… no one seems to stand for what is truly right and good these days. Kara’s new and improved answer: “But I would like to just take this moment to truly just clarify, because I am a woman, I’m gonna own what I said,” she said. “I am privileged to have healthcare, and I do believe it should be a right. I hope and pray moving forward that healthcare is a right for all, worldwide.” Sad.
Now that Kara has backtracked on healthcare to please leftists, she’ll have to rethink her take on feminism: “So as a woman scientist in the government, I’d like to lately transpose the word feminism to equalism. I don’t really want to consider myself — try not to consider myself like this die-hard, you know, like, “Oh, I don’t really care about men.” But one thing I’m gonna say, though, is women, we are just as equal as men when it comes to opportunity in the workplace.” I’m sure she’s clarifying that stance as I write this. After all, she must display the right kind of ‘diversity’.
