Bipartisan Majority of the U.S. House (238 members) Opposes Obama Administration’s Ammo Ban

This just shows more lawlessness from a President[1] who hates the Constitution and considers Congress irrelevant to his agenda. Americans, by an overwhelming majority, do not want this ammo ban. The majority of the House of Representatives (55%) has signed this letter against the ban and I would wager there will be a similar outcry in the Senate. This is the most popular rifle ammo out there and is primarily used for sporting purposes. It poses virtually no threat to police and the police have said as much[2].

238 Members Sign Letter Opposing Proposed Ban on AR-15 Ammunition

Fairfax, Va. – In an overwhelming show of bipartisan opposition, 238 Members of the U.S. House of Representatives have signed a letter to the director of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, opposing the Obama Administration’s attempt to ban commonly used ammunition for the most popular rifle in America, the AR-15. The National Rifle Association worked closely with House Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) to gather signatures on this critical effort.

“This letter sends a clear message to President Obama that Congress opposes his attempt to use his pen and phone to thwart the will of the American people,” said Chris W. Cox, executive director of the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action. “Obama said he would enact his gun control agenda ‘with or without Congress.’ He is now trying to make good on that promise. The NRA would like to thank Chairman Goodlatte and all who signed the letter for opposing this unconstitutional attack on our Second Amendment freedom.”

The NRA is working with Senator Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) on a similar letter of opposition from the U.S. Senate.

There is no history of criminals using this ammo against officers. Obama’s argument on this doesn’t hold water at all. The police view on this not only counters BATFE’s reasoning for proposing the ban, it also challenges the White House endorsement of it. This is clearly a backdoor bid to cut the popularity of the AR-15, the nation’s most popular gun, one critics call an “assault weapon” and a target of liberals and President Obama. It is de facto gun control and if it stands, it will lead to the banning of all such ammo. You can’t use a gun, if you don’t have ammo. And that is exactly what Obama wants.
