She Found a Cellar Door… When She Opened It? OMG

Imagine finding out you have an extra area in your house that wasn’t disclosed to you upon your purchase of the home. What would you think was in it? You’d probably never guess what this woman found and that makes it so much cooler!

A woman in Massachusetts made an amazing discovery while doing something fairly routine. Pulling up carpet to do renovations, she found a hole in the floor that led to an underground living area.

A post on social media site Reddit from a friend of the woman revealed pictures of what had secretly been beneath her home for an unknown period of time.

“My friend decided to replace her old carpet and she found a cellar door and a cool surprise,” she wrote.

After pulling open a hatch hidden underneath the floor covering, the woman discovered a stairway leading down into an underground area.

Jars of food and bottles of liquor were stored there, as well as a newspaper from 1945.

One jar of food had a date on it from 1955. The Cold War fear of a nuclear attack motivated many Americans to build these types of underground areas in their homes in the 50s and 60s.
