BREAKING: Numerous Dead, More Wounded… [DETAILS]

Another holiday weekend[1], another rash of murders in Chicago. Six more people had their lives cut short over Memorial Day weekend in the killing fields of the Windy City. Between 6 pm Friday and 3 am Tuesday, 49 people were shot and wounded – six were shot and killed. Unbelievably, this is an improvement over last year’s Memorial Day weekend where 71 were shot and seven were killed. Life expectancy in Chicago is not improving if you ask me.

On April 24, 2017, Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel doubled down and made the insane statement that the violence in gun-controlled Chicago proves the need for more gun control. He specifically pushed for more regulations on Federal Firearms License (FFL) holders. Because that’s worked so well in the past. Maybe Emanuel’s goal is actually to up the murder rate and get more people killed. It must be his idea of population control. Nothing else makes sense here.

Forty-nine people were shot and wounded and six were killed during Memorial Day Weekend violence in gun-controlled Chicago.

The Chicago Tribune[4] reports that the violence brought the number of homicides to 242 for January 1 through May 30, 2017.

But WGN 9[5] notes that 49 shot and six killed is actually an improvement over Memorial Day Weekend 2016. On that weekend 71 were shot and seven were killed.

An example of the violence that marked Memorial Weekend was witnessed on Monday night. Three men “were…standing in the street at 69th and Harvard” when approached by another man who opened fire. One of the men was killed–shot in the head–and the other two are in stable condition.

There were no arrests in the shooting.

This kind of violence has flared up throughout 2017 (just as it did in 2016). For example, on March 30, 2017, two brothers were shot dead in front of their mother. The brothers, ages 19 and 20, went to the restaurant where their mother worked to say hello and were shot and killed as she looked at them[6] through the window. Moreover, Breitbart News[7] reported that 29 people in Chicago were shot in less than 18 hours on April 15, 2017.

During Obama’s presidency, the sale of guns hit record highs… so did concealed carry permit holders. Guess what? The murder rate dropped by 14 percent. Chicago’s kill record so far this year is marginally better than last year… 233 versus 261 this time last year. That’s a drop of 11 percent. So excuse me if I think Rahm Emanuel is absolutely full of crap when he says the answer is more gun control instead of arming the citizens of Chicago, so they can protect themselves.

Legal permit holders are far less likely to commit a firearm violation than criminals or even police officers. Police in Chicago have only been involved in 5 of the 233 fatal shootings there. That’s 2 percent. It gives perspective, doesn’t it? People write about the slaughter of the citizens of Chicago all the time. Nothing has changed and it is still one of the most violent cities in the US. The thing is, it doesn’t have to be… but then again they elected Rahm Emanuel. Wasn’t it Obama who said you get the politicians you deserve?
