Celebrity Dance Moms Star Abby Lee Miller Sent To Jail For A Year For Hiding Earnings

If you were ever a fan of reality TV, then maybe you are a fan of this unfortunate lady. Former Dance Moms star Abby Lee Miller has hit a wall, in that she has been sentenced to a year and a day in prison in a Pittsburgh over charges of fraud. I guess hiding $755,000 in earnings was a bad idea…

She has been charged on 20 counts of fraud, to be exact.

Miller took the stand during her sentencing and pleaded with Judge Joy Flower Conti for mercy while it was rumored that she balled her eyes out on Tuesday.

Speaking with the Judge, she said:

‘Dance Moms became a hit and I became the laughing stock of reality TV.’ To that, Conti had some harsh truth for Miller in response: ‘You weren’t truthful, even when you knew you were supposed to tell everything, you still weren’t truthful.’

Assistant U.S. Attorney Gregory Melucci, in what would seem like a move to make a name for himself as the worst pun user in America, told the court that Miller transitioned from ‘dance mom in the bankruptcy case to dance con.’

Yeah…

Dance Moms is a reality series that shows on the Lifetime network. It follows the early rigorous training and careers of children in dance under the tutelage of Miller, who is their dance instructor.

The 50 year-old will be spending her sentence at a facility in the Los Angeles area. Judge Conti, even with the previous statement that didn’t hold back, was sympathetic somewhat and gave Miller a bit of pep talk before throwing the book at her:

‘Somehow you got caught up in the fame and lost your moral compass, I hope when you get out the stars align for you.’

In John Hawkins’ new book, ‘101 Things All Young Adults Should Know’, he teaches in number 51, “Prepare in case it all goes wrong.” Well, it went way wrong for Abby Lee Miller. Hopefully, she can put her life back together again when she gets out, but for now, she’s going to have to take it a day at a time.
