Exotic Meat Restaurant Busted for Selling Horse Steaks as ‘Zebra’

This story reveals a horse of another color with an exotic meat steak house in Watford, England that stands accused of passing off regular old horse meat as “zebra.”

Apparently the government sent undercover diners into the steak house to test the meat[1] on a tip that the place was perpetrating false advertising.

Undercover trading standards officers visited the steakhouse which offers various exotic meats such as zebra and wildebeest.

After they placed their orders, one for zebra and one for wildebeest, they looked around the kitchen.

They found tickets for their orders which read: “1 venison, chips and salad; 1 horse, chips and salad” – with no mention of either wildebeest or zebra.

The meals were subsequently sent for analysis and the meat served as zebra was identified as horse and the wildebeest was identified as red deer

Yes, I posted this story so I could say “horse of another color.” I admit it.
