One Virginia family came home to something surprising: their German shepherd standing at the front door. This was unusual, but the scene was only going to get worse. As they walked inside, they saw that their walls were covered with blood[1].

Tristan Murrin came home with his mother to his home in Richmond, Virginia on Thursday night to find his dog, Ogden, standing guard at the front door and he immediately knew something was wrong. As he walked inside, he began seeing the first drops of blood.

“We looked upstairs and you could see trails of blood coming from upstairs, going all the way down,” he said. There was more blood upstairs, splattered all over the walls. Clearly, there had been an intruder and Ogden had protected his home. Bloody handprints could also be seen, from where the intruder had tried to escape.

Thankfully, Murrin said nothing had been stolen and whoever had broken in had already left. Murrin’s neighborhood had been plagued with numerous robberies lately, but this time, the intruder would walk away empty-handed… and luckily for him, still alive.

Typically, Ogden is not an aggressive dog. “He plays with the kids, the cul-de-sac knows him,” Murrin said. “The community loves him, the kids come up to him and want to touch him and play with him.” But when it counted, Ogden was there. “I think the dog did its job,” Murrin said. “He knew that someone was not supposed to be in my house and no one was home and he knows that [the intruder] wasn’t supposed to be in there and was doing something that he wasn’t supposed to be doing.” So far, police have not made any arrests, so Murrin shared the bloody scene on Facebook in hopes of catching the intruder.

How would you react if your dog did this to someone who broke in?
