Teen Sucker Punched Boy With Brass Knuckles Before the Tables Turn [VIDEO]

Kane Millsaps, 16, might find himself behind bars for 20 years after his unprovoked attack where he sucker punched a 12 year-old with brass knuckles. The attack was caught on camera and the victim has numerous injuries ranging from cuts, broken teeth and obvious bruising from being punched multiple times.

The video is staggeringly disturbing as Millsaps gives the camera two middle fingers[1]. Then Kane Millsaps sucker punches[2] the boy who had no idea the punch was coming. This sent the victim stumbling and Millsaps delivered a few more punches before leaving. We’re not sure if this was Millsaps playing the “knock-out game” which is a game popular in urban cultures where they punch someone who isn’t looking and hope to knock them out. It’s an extremely violent game that has left many people devastatingly injured.

Millsaps is being tried as an adult, for first degree battery and faces a maximum 20 year conviction. His mother suggests that he’s dealing with mental problems and issues with fighting. It’s my opinion that his mother must have those same mental illness issues, because fighting and randomly attacking people are very different. You’re not crazy if you get into a mutual fight with someone you highly disagree with and it leads to punches. However, you do have a special something wrong with you if you’re sneaking up on people and bashing their skull in with a set of brass knuckles. Even if the victim had talked trash to Millsaps before, this was not the right way to settle it. It would be respectable if the boys squared up and evened things out, but that’s sadly not what happened. Not to mention this is a grown 16 year-old bullying a 12 year-old who is still in middle school. Think about that – one of these boys can drive to school and the other is still in middle school.

The 12-year-old victim suffered a bruised right eye, cut on his neck and broken teeth from the attack.

Millsaps is being charged as an adult with first degree battery. If convicted, he could serve up to 20 years in prison, the maximum sentence.

“If he gets the maximum sentence, which I hope he doesn’t, he’ll get out when he is 36 years old,” Shaw questions. “Then what?”

Millsaps’ mother said her son deals with mental issues and recently spent a year and a half in a juvenile detention center for fighting.

“It’s my opinion that this is an untreated 16-year-old who needs help,” Shaw said.

Then what? Then the person finishes high school and gets a job. I don’t think 20 years is an appropriate punishment for sucker punching someone. One year is a reasonable punishment for a few punches, with no early release and if they ever come back to prison for a violent crime, then they automatically get the maximum upon being found guilty.

Shaw has filed a motion with the court for a mental evaluation to be performed because he has “reasonable suspicion [Millsaps is] not fit to proceed forward with criminal proceedings.”

Shaw thinks Arkansas officials should increase funding for treatment.

“I think it’s a tragedy and it has caused not only my client to be incarcerated because of this but it’s also caused a victim to be injured,” he said.

Even if the mother is wrong, she’s doing what most mothers would do. You can’t blame her for coming to her son’s aid, even if he messed up horribly. If the boy really is mentally incapable, which I believe is not true, then he needs to be treated for it while in prison. We can’t just let everyone claim to be crazy when they commit violent crimes. We would be crazy to let that happen.

If Millsaps spends time in prison, then I hope he is rehabilitated. I worry that so many young people go to jail for their horrendous crimes, but then they come out of jail not knowing anything but crime. You take someone from society and place them in a box, then release them to the world with nothing to their name. The American prison system sees repeat offenders because the prison system is a joke. It needs to rehabilitate people so they don’t return.

Hopefully Kane Millsaps learns from his violent mistakes and doesn’t do anything like this ever again. He’s young and has time to turn his life around.
