Traffic Stop Turns Deadly – Officer Shot In Face… Here’s What We Know [VIDEO]

Police in Atlanta, Georgia, have arrested two people in connection with the shooting of Russell County Sheriff Heath Taylor. The officer was shot in the face during a routine traffic stop.

As reported by WTVM[1] in Atlanta, police arrested Joe Lee Garrett, 24, who turned himself in after the shooting.

Also arrested was one Lytishia Horace. It appears she was arrested on other already outstanding charges.

WTVM TV reported on the incident:

The deputy, identified as White, was shot while walking up to the vehicle during a traffic stop. He was rushed to the Medical Center and is being treated following surgery. White suffered a single shot in the face, above his left eye. Jolley says the incident happened during a traffic stop early Saturday evening around 7:30 p.m.

…Witnesses did stop to help the injured White and the incident was captured on dash board camera. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation was one of several law enforcement agencies on the scene as a part of the investigation.

There were several others in the car when the officer was shot and police are still looking for them. The investigation is ongoing.
