VIDEO: Pregnant Woman Charged After Hitting Thief Who Stole Her Purse With Her Car

This is one pregnant woman[1] you don’t want to mess with. Christine Braswell, 26, came out of a Walmart in Asheville, NC, to find Robert Raines in her SUV, ripping her off. She came out and confronted him. He grabbed her stuff and started to run off. Braswell is five-months pregnant. She began to give chase on foot, but realized she couldn’t catch him on foot. So, she jumped into her red SUV and ran him down… literally and hard. When she hit him, all the stuff he had stolen, including her purse, went flying, as did he.

Raines was taken to the hospital and was amazingly only treated for minor injuries. The way she hit him, I thought he was dead for sure, but not so much. I would not have wept if he had been knocked straight to hell. Braswell was arrested just as Raines was. Raines is being charged with felony charges of breaking and entering, larceny and property damage. That last charge is because he broke the screens on Braswell’s iPad and her phone. Christine was charged with misdemeanor assault with a deadly weapon for running this asshat over. All of this was caught on video.

From Rare[3]:

A pregnant woman driving an SUV reportedly chased down a suspected purse thief and struck him with her vehicle in a Walmart parking lot in Asheville, N.C. — and it was all caught on video.

According to WLOS-TV[4], Christine Braswell, 26, confronted the man Wednesday afternoon after he allegedly grabbed her purse and other items from her SUV.

“He was with my purse, and he took off, and I took off after him,” Braswell told WLOS. “Me being five months pregnant, I chased a little ways, then come back, jumped in the car, threw it in gear and come across the curb and ran him over. I was not going to let him get away with it. It’s not right; it’s not fair.”

Police said the suspect, Robert Raines, was treated for minor injuries and faces felony charges of breaking and entering, larceny and property damage. Braswell also faces a misdemeanor charge of assault with a deadly weapon, WLOS reported.

There is a rule in the gun community out there that if someone steals something of yours that can be replaced, you do not go after them like this. You only do something like that when your life or your family’s lives are at stake. Getting back something material isn’t worth going to prison over or losing your life for.

This woman let her anger get the better of her here. She wasn’t thinking of her baby or what could happen to her. She just didn’t want this guy to get away with this. And I’m glad he didn’t… but I think she handled it totally wrong. Note to thieves though, you don’t want to mess with a pregnant woman like this and this guy is really lucky she wasn’t armed. But then again, she’s lucky he wasn’t.
