BOOM! Good Guy With A Gun Stops Potential Mass Shooting In New Orleans…When He Did THIS!

What is it with the media blackout in New Orleans?[1] Last November there was a mass shooting there committed by an enraged black man. There was nothing in the media about it and we all found out about the incident second hand and late. Now, last Sunday there was another shooting. This time involving a man driving a white Volvo and a large group of men riding ATVs. An argument ensued and the man with the Volvo shot three of the men. One of those ATV riders had a gun. He pulled it and shot back. Three of the guys fled the scene on their ATVs and were arrested for reckless operation of a vehicle. The guy who shot Mr. Volvo had a legal firearm and exercised his rights and stopped further bloodshed by taking down an active shooter. Well done.

Good Guy[2]

From RedState:

Police said the melee started about 3:30 p.m. at the Claiborne Express station just off Esplanade Avenue. Macklin, who was driving a white Volvo, arrived at the gas station at the same time as a large group of men riding ATVs.

Macklin became “enraged” during an argument, according to an arrest report, and shot three of the men, ages 30, 31 and 32. Then one of the ATV riders, whom police have not named, pulled out a legally owned weapon and shot back.

Police said they arrested three other men — Jerome Richards, 25; Corey Berry, 20; and Charles Simon, 27 — when they fled the scene on ATVs. After a chase, all three were booked with reckless operation of a vehicle, police said.

None of the ATV riders who were shot were booked.

One wonders if the ATV rider hadn’t had a concealed carry permit and was armed and willing to use his weapon, how many more people the shooter would have shot. How many lives were saved because somebody was armed? Once again, a good guy with a gun stopped a bad guy with a gun. This happened a week ago. I did not hear one peep about it. Did you? The shooter was black and a convicted felon. No one died in the altercation. They were fortunate and if the felon hadn’t been stopped, that surely would not have been the case here. The magistrate commissioner, found probable cause in relation to the shooting for the three counts of attempted second-degree murder as well as illegal use of a weapon, illegal carrying of a weapon and possession of a firearm by a felon. Macklin was convicted of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon in Texas in 2009, according to court records, and also has previous convictions in New Orleans for domestic abuse, battery and violations of a protective order. This was a very bad guy and thank goodness he was stopped.
