This Middle School Teacher Was Fired for the Most Outrageous Reason Ever

A substitute teacher[1] in Battle Creek, Michigan gave a jaw dropping presentation using a vulgarity multiple times that got her immediately fired. She was subbing in an art class at Harper Creek Middle School and gave a presentation on Georgia O’Keeffe’s famous flower paintings. It was supposed to cover art history, but went crass and fast. She pointed out to the class of stunned students that many art critics have noticed the appearance of a very vagina-like quality in some of the paintings. This was to a bunch of eighth graders. The kids are old enough to get this, but do you really want an art class teaching your youngsters the connection between art and human sexual anatomy? I don’t. It’s disgusting and I’m sure half the students were shocked and the other half found it uproariously funny. I’m not laughing.

From the Conservative Tribune:

Allison Wint, a public school teacher[3], was substituting in an art class at Harper Creek Middle School in Battle Creek, Michigan, when she gave a presentation on Georgia O’Keeffe’s famous flower paintings.

The presentation was meant to show the importance of O’Keeffe’s work in a segment on art history. At one point, Wint explained that many art critics have noticed the appearance of a very vagina-like quality in some of the paintings.

Wint explained this to a group of eigth grade students, students old enough to understand the metaphorical[4]meaning of such art critiques.

“Imagine walking into a gallery,” when Georgia O’Keeffe “was first showing her pieces, and thinking, ‘Am I actually seeing vaginas here? Am I a pervert? I’m either a pervert or this woman was a pervert. I thought if I used a euphemism, that would make it into a joke,” Wint explained to reporters. “And I don’t think that’s a word you should be afraid of.” Who thinks like this but someone obsessed with female anatomy and sex? And what kind of teacher would ever use this as a euphemism for art? She didn’t just say ‘vagina’ once… she said it as many as 10 times during her presentation. “But it was never in a vulgar capacity,” Wint assured the press. Right… because I use that word in passing all the time, especially around children I teach. Not. She was given just one hour to collect her belongings before being sent on her way. Wint had been teaching at the school since January, but she says she will not hold a grudge against the administration’s decision. Let’s hope that no other school decides to employ this woman. She has obvious mental issues and poor judgement. Not qualities you want in someone teaching your children.
