Martha Coakley? More Like Martha Choke-ly.

I was going to say Croak-ley, as that is what her senate campaign is doing, but I assumed that liberals would start screeching about how Republicans “want people to die” and stuff. Sheesh, for such an allegedly cosmopolitan, open-minded bunch, they sure do get their lattes in a foamy tizzy an awful lot.

Polling data[1], released by the: Boston Herald[2] on Thursday, had Scott Brown up by four points.

Riding a wave of opposition to Democratic health-care reform, GOP upstart Scott Brown is leading in the U.S. Senate race, raising the odds of a historic upset that would reverberate all the way to the White House, a new poll shows.

Although Brown’s 4-point lead over Democrat Martha Coakley is within the Suffolk University/7News survey’s margin of error, the underdog’s position at the top of the results stunned even pollster David Paleologos.

“It’s a Brown-out,” said Paleologos, director of Suffolk’s Political Research Center. “It’s a massive change in the political landscape.”

He’s doing incredibly well with women (told you.: Knew my ladies wouldn’t let me down[3]), garnering 45 percent to Coakley’s 50 percent. Where he is really besting her, however, is with independents, where he is getting 65 percent of that vote. Perhaps Massachusetts has finally decided that they don’t want corrupt, elitist, arrogant Senators any longer? Coakley sure didn’t do herself any favors there; let’s take a look at the revelations over just the past fewdays, shall we?

First, one of her: campaign aides assaulted a Weekly Standard reporter[4]. Coakley, the Attorney General of the State – the head law enforcement person – not only did nothing, but claimed to know nothing about it. Huh. Let’s go to the video tape! (well, picture. But still)

Unless she’s actually blind and trying to “pass” as sighted, Coakley, YOU LIE.

Next, she: gave this response [5]when it was suggested that perhaps she took the election for granted. You know, she had a right to the seat, as a Democrat and all.

“As opposed to standing outside Fenway Park? In the cold? Shaking hands?’’ she fires back, in an apparent reference to a Brown online video of him doing just that. “This is a special election. And I know that I have the support of Kim Driscoll. And I now know the members of the [Salem] School Committee, who know far more people than I could ever meet”

Not only does she diss fans at Fenway Park, which I’m pretty sure is a big sporty thing no-no, but she shows herself to be an elitist, arrogant arse of a woman.: “I know people! I know people more important than icky regular Massachusetts citizens. Plebes!”

Next, and most disturbing, are the revelations of some of the crimes she failed to prosecute as a prosecutor. Worse, she CHOSE to fail to prosecute. Breitbart’s: BigJournalism[6] has the full story; it’s incredibly disturbing.

Let’s start with a horrific case that shows Coakley’s inexplicable and appalling lack of judgment:

1. October 2005: The curling-iron toddler rape case. : Coakley brings no charges, then lets the rapist out on no bail.

“I’ve been a cop for over 26 years and this is one of the most – if not the most – horrific cases I’ve ever seen.”: :  Police Detective Sgt. Barry Campbell

From the Boston Globe: In October 2005, a Somerville police officer living in Melrose raped his 23-month-old niece with a hot object, most likely a curling iron.

Keith Winfield, then 31, told police he was alone with the toddler that day and made additional statements that would ultimately be used to convict him.

But in the aftermath of the crime, a Middlesex County grand jury overseen by Martha Coakley, then the district attorney, investigated without taking action

Read the whole thing[7]

So let’s be clear: Martha Coakley failed to take action against a man who molested his own niece, a child, with a curling iron until her hand was finally forced by the victim’s mother.

I’m speechless. Except to say, a 23 MONTH OLD BABY. With a CURLING IRON.

Finally, she topped it off with a radio interview[8], whereby she decides that private institutions don’t have the right to religious freedom, nor do their employees –: especially if you’re talking about nutty old nuns[9]!

Ken Pittman: Right, if you are a Catholic, and believe what the Pope teaches that any form of birth control is a sin. ah you don’t want to do that.
Martha Coakley: No we have a seperation of church and state Ken, lets be clear.
Ken Pittman: In the emergency room you still have your religious freedom.
Martha Coakley: (……uh, eh…um..) The law says that people are allowed to have that.: You can have religious freedom but you probably shouldn’t work in the emergency room.

Oh, icky! Nuns are religious and stuff and not super cool secular beings like she and good, old Teddy. Hello? Nuns have no business in an emergency room! But she, in the name of a man who left a woman to suffocate and drown, has business being in control of YOUR emergency room services. Sheesh, people, get with the program. She knows better than you!

It appears that Massachusetts, after decades and decades of what I can only explain away as mass hypnosis, finally has an actual choice for Senate. And both Scott Brown and Martha Coakley are making the correct choice perfectly clear.

Don’t let me down this time, Massachusetts, please. You owe us.
