Mom’s Suffer Under the Obama Administration

by Tiffiny Ruegner | September 19, 2012 5:23 pm

As a Mom I feel I have more skin in the game than ever this election cycle. I’ve been paying close attention to the Presidential race to figure out what’s best for my family. Polls released last week by CBS News and NYT showed Obama with a 53-41 percent advantage among women. This week Obama and Romney campaigns went into high gear releasing ads targeted at women.

The ads were typical campaign fodder designed to tug at a mothers heartstrings:[1]

Obama ad: Hardworking Mom afraid of Romney

[2]

Romney ad: New Mom holding soft baby afraid of Obama

But what’s the REAL truth? As a Mom I use facts and processes that have worked for me in the past to take next steps with my son. I decided to find out how my life as a Mom improved under an Obama administration to see how I will move forward. My top 2 worries? Gas and employment. Without money for gas there is no driving my son to Tae Kwon Do, Piano, and School etc.

Price of gas & unemployment has more than doubled for women or Moms under the Obama administration.

I wondered how the Obama administration can think they own the woman vote when under their tenure women’s suffering in the workforce has more than doubled. But that can just be result of a very bad recession and steps Obama has taken to lower prices and lessen pressure on small businesses will surely turn those unemployment numbers around. That brings me to my second worry as a mom: Gas.

Once I discovered gas prices went from $1.74 in 2008 to $4.07 today, I also found out where those hundreds of dollars are going every month. Not some leprechaun stealing my money, or pocket change slipping between the sofa cushions; in actuality I’ve been paying more than double the amount: for gas at the end of Obama’s first term than the beginning of his Presidency. How could gas have doubled in Obama’s administration? I asked myself: could this be an intentional attack on Mothers of America? Let’s take a step back to September 2008 a man named Steven Chu steps on the scene talking about intentionally gouging consumers with higher gas prices. “Somehow we have to figure out how to boost the price of gasoline to the levels in Europe,” Mr. Chu, who directs the Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory in California, said in an interview with The Wall Street Journal [14]in September.

Yes, that Mr. Chu quote has been used over and over again when talking about gas prices. I decided to use my special Mother detective skills and investigate what steps President Obama has taken to protect us from economic manipulators like that. I thought surely after a statement like this Obama and his administration have distanced themselves from Mr. Chu and the like over the past 4 years. :

I figured there must be some disconnect between Obama and the Department of Energy. Well I went right to the heart of it to The Department of Energy to see what measures they are taking to make sure our gas prices are staying low. Low and behold the guy with the plan to more than quadruple our gas prices was ordained by Obama to run the Department of Energy[15]these four years, Dr. Steven Chu. Looking at the current price of gas today we are halfway to Dr. Chu’s goal. All he needs is another 4 years with Obama to accomplish his 2008 strategy of bringing US gas prices closer to Europe.

I ask mothers and fathers out there… Do you really believe that a President who achieves doubling gas prices and doubling unemployment for women is someone watching out for you? This is a snapshot of Moms under the 1st Obama administration when we felt like we were being promised the world like FREE gas. In 2008, Peggy Joseph even took her kids out of school to listen to Obama promises and gas was definitely on this mom’s mind too:

Who’s bigger than Obama? Moms! There is only 1 Barack Obama in the US & there are 84 Million Mom’s in the US!

You can accept another FOUR MORE YEARS or FIGHT! It is time for Mom’s to stand up and be heard, not be counted as some number in a poll. We are not pawns to be moved around a board like chess pieces. As a matter of fact over the last few years women have been engaging in the process more than ever by volunteering, lobbying for women at State Capitols and Congress and even running for office.
