It’s so terrible
There’s a narrative gaining traction in Washington as a debt crisis looms: House Republican hard-liners might soften their stance once they’ve gotten a vote on their Cut, Cap and Balance proposal.
But if that’s the case, the conservatives aren’t in on the plan.
Well, that’s pretty much it for a story by The Politico entitled GOP has no backup plan after vote. Catchy headline, though, eh? Of course, where’s the Democrats plan? It’s been well over 800 days since the Democrats passed an actual budget. Where’s Obama’s plan?
Freshman Republicans are also pushing the plan and will head to the White House Tuesday to release a letter urging Obama to unveil his plan to hike the debt ceiling.
“Because you have not presented any written detailed proposal to raise the debt ceiling, our constituents are left in the dark as to what specific cuts you propose as well as what taxes you are planning to raise,” the letter reads.
Good luck with that: Obama doesn’t do specifics. He just pontificates and says “show let it be written, so let it be done.” And then it gets all scary or something
Washington’s frayed nerves showed through Monday amid tough talk on the right, a White House veto threat, canceled weekend passes and the top Senate Democrat likening default to a “very, very scary” outcome even for those “who believe government should be small enough to drown in a bathtub.”
“What will it take,” asked an agitated Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.), “for my Republican colleagues to wake up to the fact that they’re playing a game of political chicken with the entire global economy?”
Perhaps an actual plan from Obama/Democrats? The GOP have offered up several plans. You keep saying “no, we need to spend ourselves into being Greece”. Throw a plan out there, chumps. Oh, wait, remember, Obama did have a plan, and it was defeated, with not one Democrat voted for it as it was so extreme and raised the debt and deficit so high.
It’s all about a vision of the future of the United States: will we be fiscally sound, or will we hover on the edge of oblivion, with all our entitlement obligations pushing us off the cliff? Will government live within its means, or, will it spend beyond rational belief, and attempt to tax the job creators out of business? Will the squishy Republicans continue to appeal to the liberal media for their approval while stabbing their Conservative colleagues in the back by attempting to work with liberals who will turn around and stab the squishes in the back, just like always happens?
