Yesterday, President-elect Donald Trump picked Ret. Gen. James “Mad Dog” Mattis to be his Secretary of Defense. The man is a legend in the military and I am thrilled with this pick. If Trump picks John Bolton as Secretary of State, I can just imagine our enemies wetting themselves in a corner. Good times. To give you measure of the man, here are just five of his quotes. They are epic.

Mattis is a warrior’s warrior. He knows exactly how to go into battle and how to fight a war. He does it the old fashioned way… kill the enemy, break things and go home. The man has a long, decorated career and is respected by just about everyone that knows anything about the military. I understand that the announcement was not to be made until Monday, but Trump being Trump just couldn’t contain the good news.

On war protesters:

“When you men get home and face an anti-war protester, look at him in the eyes and shake his hand. Then, wink at his girlfriend because she knows she’s dating a p****”

On woman-beaters:

“You go into Afghanistan, you got guys who slap women around for five years because they didn’t wear a veil. You know, guys like that ain’t got no manhood left anyway. So it’s a hell of a lot of fun to shoot them. Actually it’s quite fun to fight them, you know. It’s a hell of a hoot. It’s fun to shoot some people. I’ll be right up there with you. I like brawling.”

Mattis offered these thoughts on domestic abuse during a panel discussion Feb. 1, 2005.

On terrorist retirement:

“There is only one ‘retirement plan’ for terrorists.”

Mattis gave us this thought in 2004 while in Iraq.

On history:

“I’m going to plead with you, do not cross us. Because if you do, the survivors will write about what we do here for 10,000 years.”

On the importance of artillery:

“I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes. If you f*** with me, I’ll kill you all.”

Mattis delivered this gem after the invasion of Iraq in 2003 while meeting with Iraqi elders in his unit’s area of operations.

Got that? This guy is not screwing around. I love this guy… seriously. He’s got so many awards and ribbons, I won’t even bother to try and list them. I would say that he will rebuild the military in short order and we will once again be a force to be reckoned with. I think Mattis is just the man to do it too.

This man is a walking military action flick. I’m sure that the military is just elated over Trump’s pick here. Right there with ya fellas.
