Donald Trump has been building his cabinet and there is lots of speculation as to who will be appointed to serve in the new administration. Names like Rudy Giuliani, John Bolton and Newt Gingrich have been thrown around. But his pick for attorney general[1] might surprise some people.
Trump evidently has his eye on Ted Cruz, which might be unexpected, considering the contentious relationship between the two. Cruz and Trump met privately at Trump Tower earlier this week. While no one knows for sure what they discussed, it seems that they spoke about cabinet appointments in the Trump administration. Not long after the meeting, Bloomberg made the announcement.

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani also was discussed as a potential attorney general, but Trump is allegedly instead looking to make Giuliani his secretary of state.
After meeting with Trump, Cruz’ senior communications advisor, Catherine Frazier, issued a statement:

Cruz himself addressed reporters gathered outside of Trump Tower, saying, “I look forward to working hard to help lead the fight to actually accomplish the conservative agenda.”
