Hillary Tries Out A Nickname For Trump: “The Presumptuous Nominee”

I wonder how many hours and meetings were put into this effort? You know she doesn’t do off script and in the moment very well

(ABC) Donald Trump has been known to assign nicknames to his rival presidential candidates. But now it appears he’s getting a taste of his own medicine — from Hillary Clinton.

During a campaign event in Oakland, California, on Friday at La Escuelita Elementary School, the Democratic presidential front-runner prescribed a new name for the man who is being called the Republican presumptive nominee: The “presumptuous nominee.”

“Their presumptive nominee, otherwise called their presumptuous nominee,” Clinton told the crowd to laughter, referring to the Republicans, “has made it really clear he basically said wages are too high in America. And that’s why he doesn’t think we need to raise the minimum wage. And I gotta tell you I ask myself all the time, who he is talking to?”

I betting the majority had to whip out their phones and look the word up. They knew it was supposed to be snarky, but, that’s about it. Just for the record, Merriam-Webster defines it as “too confident especially in a way that is rude : done or made without permission, right, or good reason.”

Trump, meanwhile, refers to Clinton as “Crooked Hillary.” He also had nicknames for his former rivals: “Lyin’ Ted” for Ted Cruz, “Little Marco” for Marco Rubio, and Jeb “Low Energy” Bush.

Regardless of your opinion or support (or lack thereof) of Donald Trump, which nickname will work better? Which one will stick? Because Trump will use the “crooked Hillary” name on a constant basis. It flows easily. It is easily understood. It leads to conversation regarding her crookedness. “Presumptuous nominee” leads to looks of confusion.

And yeah, yeah, I know, the early electoral maps are not trending Trump. We have a long way to go to November.
