Kellogg’s is Toast! Investments Tank after Brand Snubs Deplorables [VIDEO]

I didn’t even realize before all this that Kellogg’s advertised on Breitbart’s site. They are now pulling their advertising and branding Breitbart as racist. I’ve had my differences with Breitbart, but I have seen no credible evidence they are racist. There may be a small faction of Alt-Right individuals who are racist that claim a connection to them, but they no more speak for Breitbart than criminals speak for the general population. Breitbart is being shunned because they support President-elect Donald J. Trump and that is abhorrent and unacceptable. So, I stand with Breitbart in their petition against Kellogg’s. Boycotts work both ways and I guarantee the millions who support Trump and Breitbart will fight back.

This is a thunderously bone headed move by Kellogg’s. They are alienating half of America… half of their customer base by doing this in such a public fashion. They should take a long look at what happened to Target over the transgender bathroom mess. Their stock has tanked massively and now Kellogg’s is doing the same kind of political move. The #DumpKelloggs boycott effort was launched in response to Kellogg’s attack on the “values” of Breitbart and their 45 million monthly readers. This is backfiring on British-based Kellogg’s big time.

The announcement from Kellogg came yesterday that it would stop advertising on the conservative media website Breitbart. Specifically, “We regularly work with our media buying partners to ensure our ads do not appear on sites that aren’t aligned with our values as a company,” Kellogg spokesperson Kris Charles in a statement.

Of course, no specific examples were given. The inference, however, is clear. Kellogg has bought into the media’s false narrative that conservatives and Breitbart’s website consist of deplorables, haters, racists, sexists, White Nationalists, who also kick puppies and club baby seals.

Whatever your belief is doesn’t actually matter. Investing reality does. And the broader investing point is that Kellogg is being incredibly, mind-numbingly stupid.

In the last two days alone, Kellogg’s stock has fallen 3.6 percent. Not good. As I write this, almost 250,000 people have signed the Breitbart petition. That’s just the people who have seen it and that number has grown by more than 100,000 since last night. Breitbart News, co-founded by Steve Bannon, chief strategist for President-elect Donald Trump, launched the broadside against the Battle Creek, Michigan company after Kellogg’s on Tuesday publicly stated it didn’t want its ads to appear on the site. Breitbart is not “aligned with our values as a company,” Kellogg’s said in a statement. Oh really? So communism is more to your liking? Or are you just so stupid you’ll believe the propaganda against Breitbart?

“I’m not sure why [Kellogg’s] thought it was a good idea to promote that they were backing off the advertising,” said one marketing expert. Neither am I. It seems incredibly short-sighted and potentially suicidal if you ask me. Kellogg’s was joined by other advertisers including Warby Parker, Allstate, Nest, EarthLink and SoFi. Some of their ads ended up on Breitbart because of targeting, or ads that follow users around the web. I see, that means the ads could wind up anywhere. Breitbart has 19.2 million users. That’s a big demographic to piss off. Maybe Kellogg’s should change their branding from “They’re great!” to “They suck!” Truth in advertising y’all.
