Mayor of Charlottesville: Trump Intentionally Courted White Supremacists – What Do You Think? [VIDEO]

I’ve taken issue[1] with President Trump on a number of issues since he took office, but this weekend’s response to the white nationalist terrorist attack in Charlottesville, VA is not one of them. I thought his initial response was appropriate. He condemned hatred and racism on all sides. The only mistake he made was that he should have not only mentioned the white supremacists, but Black Lives Matter and Antifa as well. Both sides were violent, but the left is only selectively covering one side… again. Trump did issue a second response yesterday where he condemned the white nationalists and made clear they disgust him.

I do not believe and never have that President Trump is racist and to accuse him of courting white supremacists is ridiculous in the extreme. They are a fringe group that tried to attach themselves to his presidency. Doesn’t anyone remember how David Duke also courted Hillary Clinton? Mayor Michael Signer of Charlottesville took this opportunity to turn the tragedy back on Trump and accuse him of intentionally courting white supremacists. It’s a monstrous lie and he freaking knows it. Why am I not surprised by this?

From Breitbart:

Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union,” Charlottesville, VA Mayor Michael Signer reacted to the violence Saturday at in his city at a protest, which left three dead and 19 injured.

Signer said President Donald Trump contributed to the violence with his “intentional courting” of “white supremacists.”

Signer said, “Look at the campaign he ran. I mean, look at the intentional courting both on the one hand of all these white supremacists, white nationalist group like that, Antisemitic and then look on the other hand the repeated failure to condemn, denounce, silence, you know, put to bed all those different efforts just like we saw yesterday. This is not hard. There’s, you know, there’s two words that need to be said over and over again. That is exactly what we saw on display this weekend, and we just aren’t seeing leadership from the White House.”

Standing on the dead bodies from this weekend, Signer used CNN’s “State of the Union” to attack the President. It was the cheap politicization of tragedy and just disgusting. Trump is innocent of everything this asshat threw at him. It’s the same kind of crap the left throws at the right every time, trying to capitalize on racial hatred. This guy would love it if we had a race war and he’s doing his bit to foment one. Shame on him.

Signer then went on: “We certainly are going to see leadership from cities like Charlottesville from mayors around the country left and right and Republicans and Democrats if there is an issue that can unite this country that this can be a turning point for this democracy and it happened this weekend in Charlottesville,” he continued. “To be honest, it doesn’t matter much to me whether he’s on the sidelines and think of so many issues. But the country is going to move ahead. This is a turning point for the country to overcome this stuff, just like we’ve overcome these challenges in our past.” Nice words, but by unjustly accusing Trump of racism, he does the exact opposite and he knows it. Evidently, you can have your bigotry and eat it too after all.
