As the first President to speak to the NRA (actually speak to them, not call them “gun nuts” or “bitter clingers”) since Ronald Reagan, Trump had some pretty big shoes to fill.
While he didn’t give out many specifics, Trump did make sweeping promises to defend the Second Amendment while in the White House.
He also gave an ominous warning.
During his speech, Trump discussed the 2020 Presidential election. It might seem a little premature given that he is just barely approaching his first 100 days as President, but when you’re defending the Constitution, you need to be prepared for all scenarios.
One of those scenarios is a possible Elizabeth Warren run.
He discussed the idea that there may be a lot of candidates running for President in 2020 and urged the NRA to refuse any candidates seeking their support. Including “Pocahontas.”

Naturally, there were some weenies on Twitter who objected to the President’s pet name for Warren…
The United States President referring to a sitting United States Senator as “Pocahontas” is something we should continue to be shocked by.
When asked if she was contemplating a 2020 run, Warren refused to give a straight answer, seeming to err on the side of caution.
“I’m running in 2018 for senator from Massachusetts,” she said. “I am deeply blessed that the people from the Commonwealth sent me to Washington to fight for them, and that’s what I’ll keep on doing.”
For the record, Trump did apologize for his “Pocahontas” comments once, but not for the reason you think.
“I do regret calling her Pocahontas because I think it’s a tremendous insult to Pocahontas — so to Pocahontas I would like to apologize to you,” Trump said.
Warren could garner much more support than Clinton ever did during her run, which makes her a serious competitor for the Presidency. Unfortunately, her election would mean that the NRA would be facing serious political opposition and the 2nd Amendment would be in serious danger. This is something that we simply can’t support.
