Rumors Swirl, Romney May Have To Suck Up His Pride & Apologize! [VIDEO]

Rumors are swirling that President Trump’s Transition Team wants Mitt Romney to issue a public apology to Donald Trump before he can be tapped as Secretary of State. I think either both men should apologize to each other, or neither should apologize. They both said harsh and insulting things about each other while Trump was campaigning. That was the tone of this election cycle, as much as I hated it. But to demand that Romney apologize for his behavior and not ask the same of Donald Trump is one-sided and just wrong.

I have to say that I am surprised that President Trump is considering Romney for Secretary of State with all the vitriol on both sides. But then again, Trump has basically said that the campaign rhetoric was just that and not real. So, maybe he thinks his administration and the nation would be best served by Romney in that position. I don’t know how Romney is sucking up his pride and doing this though. I guess politics is more theatrics than reality these days and nothing is as it seems.

From Breitbart:

Fox News reveals that Donald Trump’s transition team is discussing whether or not they should make Mitt Romney apologize for his personal attacks speech against Trump during the Republican primary season.
“There are conversations going on whether Mitt Romney has to issue some kind of public apology” to Trump, Fox News reporter Ed Henry says.

During a speech in March, Romney criticized Trump’s proposed trade policies, his businesses and called him a “con man,” and “a fraud” and “a phony.”

“His promises are as worthless as a degree from Trump University,” Romney said at the time. “He’s playing the members of the American public for suckers. He gets a free ride to the White House and all we get is a lousy hat.”

But since Trump won the election, Romney is singing a different tune.

Romney traveled to Trump’s golf course in New Jersey to meet with Trump last week, raising speculations that he could serve in the administration, even as a possible Secretary of State.

Evidently the meeting went very well between Trump and Romney. As far as I know, the two top contenders for Secretary of State are Rudy Giuliani and Mitt Romney. Frankly, I would rather see John Bolton as Secretary of State – he’s a pit bull and would give no quarter to any enemy of ours. He would get ‘er done. But Romney is not as gentlemanly as he seems. He was the one who accurately dubbed Russia our biggest enemy, which Obama mocked and made an ass of himself doing so. I would rather see Romney as Secretary of Commerce, which he would be great at. But, Trump is going to tap billionaire investor Wilbur Ross for that spot.

Most of Trump’s inner circle is opposed to Mitt Romney. I know that Newt Gingrich has come out strongly against him. But Trump will be the final word on this, so we will have to see. Kellyanne Conway has also thrown shade at Mitt Romney being tapped by Trump. I align with Erick Erickson saying in response to Conway’s tweets that Romney would provide stability as Secretary of State and be a “calming effect internationally.” He’s not my first choice, but he would be great at the job, regardless of popularity. “Mr. Trump himself has told aides that he believes Mr. Romney ‘looks the part’ and would make a fine Secretary of State,” a senior Trump official said.
