Honestly, I don’t know who to believe here anymore. Megyn Kelly is pushing her book out there and she comes right out and says that certain TV hosts spoke about their questions with Donald Trump ahead of time. That they were acting when they quizzed him. She says she can’t give sources as the conversations were off the record. That sounds a lot like heresy to me since she can’t name names. It may very well be true, but sourcing is critical when you are accusing people of this kind of behavior.
Sean Hannity is demanding proof and answers from Kelly over the allegations. I assume because he thinks she is hinting it was him. Hannity has been in Trump’s camp since the beginning, but I’m not sure he would do something like that. I’m not crazy about the guy anymore because I think he accused others of things that aren’t true. So, in the end, I just don’t know who to believe here.
Kurtz recounts from her book the charge that there were pro-Donald Trump TV hosts who “would arrange with Trump in advance to ask him certain critical questions or do certain hits on him so they would appear to have some credibility.”
He asked if she means they were “play-acting.” Kelly responded, “Yes. It was acting.”
She confirmed it happened at more than one network, but could not divulge any more information. “But trust me,” she added, ‘this did happen, and it’s been confirmed to me by more than one television executive.”
I think it is opportunistic of Kelly to put this forth for a book and not give concrete proof. Whether true or not, it looks like she is using it to make book sales and get attention. Many think that Kelly is referring to Bill O’Reilly here and I might just believe that charge. Again, I’m not willing to convict anyone without solid proof though.
Of course, if she named names and it wasn’t true, she knows she would be opening herself to a lawsuit. Which makes me wonder about her statements even more. She says she has this confirmed by more than one executive, but they don’t always tell the truth or all of the truth either.
Kelly is an excellent journalist when she wants to be. But she is obviously biased against Trump and those that support him. Where she steps out of line is showing her dislike. It’s her job to stay unbiased and impartial. But all of them at Fox show one form of bias or another. I think I will withhold judgement until I see proof that this is true.
