News of Donald Trump’s cabinet picks continues to leak out and the newest is his choice for CIA director. In this case, it’s Joe Pompeo[1]: a conservative congressman from Kansas who criticized Hillary Clinton for her handling of the Benghazi terror attack, as well as Obama’s Iran deal.
Pompeo has an impressive resume, making it easy to see why Trump picked him. He graduated from the United States Military Academy at West Point first in his class in 1986. He served as a cavalry officer “patrolling the Iron Curtain before the fall of the Berlin Wall” and later graduated from Harvard Law School, where he served as editor-in-chief of the Harvard Law Review.
After college, he served as chief executive officer for Thayer Aerospace for over 10 years, before moving to Sentry International, where he was president. In Congress, he served as a member of the House Intelligence Committee and was appointed to the House Select Benghazi Committee in 2014, which investigated the attack on the United States embassy in Benghazi that left four Americans dead.
