Infrastructure Spending Back On Obama Radar Updated: Now With Full Obaaaaaaam-bulance!

What’s that saying about “doing the same thing and expecting different results”? It really doesn’t matter if Obama went to Columbia and Harvard. It doesn’t matter that he is POTUS. The guy is an idiot. That is the only answer to one of Obama’s latest economic stimulus plans

Vowing to find new ways to stimulate the sputtering economy[1], President Barack Obama will call for long-term investments in the nation’s roads, railways and airports that would cost at least $50 billion, administration officials said.

The goals of the infrastructure plan include: rebuilding 150,000 miles of roads; constructing and maintaining 4,000 miles of railways, enough to go coast-to-coast; and rehabilitating or reconstructing 150 miles of airport runways, while also installing a new air navigation system designed to reduce travel times and delays.

No offense to our blue collar worker friends, but, they aren’t the only ones out of a job. Furthermore, like the original Generational Theft Act, the jobs will only be short term. Once the projects are done, and the money is gone, now what? We’ve already tried this, the economy is still sputtering, yet, President Chump wants to do it again. The very definition of stupid, especially on top of how he is vowing to find news to simulate the sputtering economy with the same old same old. Is it any wonder why the White House is panicking[2] over the mid-terms?

Obama will also call for the creation of a permanent infrastructure bank that would focus on funding national and regional infrastructure projects.

Oh, good, this’ll create yet another bloated government office.

Officials wouldn’t say what the total cost of the infrastructure investments would be, but did say the initial $50 billion represents a significant percentage. Officials said the White House would consider closing a number of special tax breaks for oil and gas companies to pay for the proposal.

So, they’ll build and repair all those roads, railways, and runways that will cost you an arm and a leg to use, due to the massive increases in fuel costs.

All of the ideas that Obama will lay out as he speaks to union workers, rather than the unemployed, today in Milwaukee will be short termed, and, since many of them are tax breaks, now he’ll all of a sudden want to use PayGo, offsetting this spending by doing away with tax breaks on multinationals and oil and gas companies, further causing harm to the economy and job growth.

(Correction: I originally wrote that Obama would be in Cleveland today. That whinefest, in which he continues to blame Bush and Republicans, is actually scheduled for Wednesday[3]. )

PS: Nice to know that Obama, a Climate Alarmist himself, is jetting off at 1230pm to fly to Milwaukee, then flying back this afternoon.

Update: post Obama speech whine[4]

About how some on Wall Street took reckless risks and cut corners to turn huge profits, while working Americans were fighting harder and harder just to stay afloat. And about how the decks were too often stacked in favor of the special interests and against working Americans. (he whines about special interests as he speaks in front of union members)

It was the labor movement that helped secure so much of what we take for granted today — the 40-hour work week, the minimum wage, family leave, health insurance, Social Security, Medicare, retirement plans, those cornerstones of middle class security that all bear the union label. (yeah, all the stuff that is bankrupting America. Did I mention that he was speaking in front of a special interest group?)

Even when I was running for this office, we knew it would take time to reverse the damage of a decade’s worth of policies that saw a few folks prosper while the middle class kept falling behind (good Lord, man up, Buttercup, take some freakin’ responsibility. You’re the POTUS.)

We didn’t come this far by letting special interests run wild (like the ones standing behind him?)

But there are some folks in Washington who see things differently (if you’re thinking he couldn’t possibly spend several paragraphs whining like a 3 year old, well, you’d be wrong)

I’m not bringing this up to re-litigate the past; I’m bringing it up because I don’t want to re-live the past. (as to the first, yeah, right. As to the second, he wants to live a future that looks more like Greece. And, yeah, he spends even more time on his blamestorming, to wrap up his speech)

Yes, he did say “I” quite a lot. But, wait, what’s this, that is not in the official transcript[5]?

“Some powerful interests who had been dominating the agenda in Washington for a very long time and they’re not always happy with me. They talk about me like a dog. That’s not in my prepared remarks, but it’s true,” he told the union crowd.

My goodness, but this man is thin skinned. Bush had lefties talking about his death and how evil he was and such for 8 years. Someone get Obama his blankie, his teddy bear, and a cup of cocoa. Sheesh.

Meanwhile, John Boehner rips Obama apart[6].
