Minnesota Teacher Brainwashing Program

You would think the moonbat brainwashers who run the education establishment could rest on their laurels, now that their ideology has blossomed into an unqualified socialist elected President of the USA on the basis of his “oppressed” ethnicity. But no, they’ve only just begun[1]:

A branch of the University of Minnesota may require all education students at the school to understand and accept that they are either privileged or oppressed and that they be well-versed in issues like “white privilege,” “institutional racism” and the “myth of meritocracy in the United States.”

Critics are condemning the Race, Culture, Class and Gender Task Group at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, which proposes making race, class and gender issues the “overarching framework” of all teaching courses.

The task group, formed as part of the Teacher Education Redesign Initiative[2] at the state university, aims to change how future teachers are trained, based on the assertion that the teachers’ lack of “cultural competence” contributes to minority students’ poor grades.

Teachers are to be instruments of “social and cultural transformation” — i.e., termites gnawing away at what’s left of our society by turning us against each other and undermining American values. If all you wanted to do was teach math, you’re in the wrong line of work, and unlikely to get certified unless you can at least learn to mouth the correct slogans regarding the ultra-left ideology that the education establishment — best personified by influential Professor of Education, close friend of the president, and unrepentant Maoist terrorist Bill Ayers — has been hammering into the minds of children.

Adam Kissel of FIRE[3] gives an example of what will be asked of prospective teachers:

They must reveal a “pervasive stereotype” they personally held about an identity group, and evidently must argue in a personal essay that this view has now been “challenged” on the basis of their experiences with that identity group. So if you say, “well, actually I don’t have a pervasive stereotype” … you’re probably going to get a bad grade.

The objective is probably not so much to brainwash teachers, as to weed out anyone not interested in brainwashing students on behalf of the radical left. Quotes from two of the most prominent figures in the history of the progressive movement bear repeating:

Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted.
Vladimir Ilyich Lenin[4]

When an opponent declares, “I will not come over to your side,” I calmly say, “Your child belongs to us already… What are you? You will pass on. Your descendants, however, now stand in the new camp. In a short time they will know nothing else but this new community.”
Adolf Hitler[5]
