Nordstrom’s Selling Jeans That Help Liberals Look Like They Work HARD…

We’re way beyond store-bought ripped jeans now.

Nordstrom, who recently made a big deal out of dropping Ivanka Trump’s fashion brand[2], is now selling jeans with fake mud. so you can look like a rugged American all for the low price of… $425.

Imagine being so removed from manual labor that you have to pay hundreds and hundreds of dollars at an upscale department store in order to look like you’ve just come back from turning over the soil in your vegetable patch.

The site describes the Barracuda Straight Leg Jeans[3]:

Heavily distressed medium-blue denim jeans in a comfortable straight-leg fit embody rugged, Americana workwear that’s seen some hard-working action with a crackled, caked-on muddy coating that shows you’re not afraid to get down and dirty.

Mike Rowe’s Facebook post perfectly sums up the insanity of the situation[4] by focusing in on the language they use:

Finally – a pair of jeans that look like they have been worn by someone with a dirty job…made for people who don’t. And you can have your very own pair for just $425.00.

But forget the jeans themselves for a moment, and their price, and look again at the actual description. “Rugged Americana” is now synonymous with a “caked-on, muddy coating.” Not real mud. Fake mud. Something to foster the illusion of work. The illusion of effort. Or perhaps, for those who actually buy them, the illusion of sanity.

The Barracuda Straight Leg Jeans aren’t pants. They’re not even fashion. They’re a costume for wealthy people who see work as ironic – not iconic. To them, might I suggest the revolutionary new “Borax Wash,” which I discovered some years ago while rescuing birds who had the misfortune of falling into Searle’s Lake in the lovely and picturesque town of Trona.

Still no word on whether Nordstrom will start selling t-shirts with fake animal slobber grass stains on the shoulder.

Look, if you want to look like a caricature of a rugged, hardworking American, then don’t be surprised if the whole Internet laughs at you.

In John Hawkins’ new book ‘101 Things All Young Adults Should Know’, he talks about the financial habits of billions like Mark Zuckerberg, who famously wears the same t-shirt and jeans combo almost every single day of his life. If you know someone heading into adulthood who doesn’t realize that expensive toys like a fancy car is “nothing more than transportation,” then sending them a copy might just help to clue them in.
