Quote of the Day

Those of us lucky enough to still have jobs in the Obama economy work hard to create wealth. What percentage of it do we deserve to keep? Leftist congresscritter Jan Schakowsky (D-IL) gives her answer[1]:

“I’ll put it this way. You don’t deserve to keep all of it and it’s not a question of deserving because what government is, is those things that we decide to do together.”

The reference is to what Jean-Jacques Rousseau called the “general will[2]” — a concept that has been exploited by every tyrannical regime starting with the French Revolution’s Reign of Terror.

Since the government’s will is your will, your money is the government’s money. Once again we see that there is no ideological boundary between liberalism and totalitarianism.

On tips from Bob Roberts, Trace, J, and Len.
