Family of “Virgin Killer” Calls for Gun Control In Response To His Mass Killing

The Isla Vista mass murder spree by Elliot Rodgers shocked the nation, and, predictably, spawned yet another nationwide lecture about the evils of guns. But the most offensive of those voices came from the killer’s family, who spoke out afterwards in favor of gun control.

On May 24 Breitbart News reported that Peter Rodger–father of Santa Barbara attacker Elliot Rodger–released a statement through his attorney supporting gun control.

Now Jenni Rodger, aunt of Santa Barbara attacker Elliot Rodger, has added her voice to the politicization of Elliot’s heinous crimes.

According to The Independent, Jenni Rodger spoke from France, where she expressed condolences to the victim’s families then began criticizing U.S. gun laws: “I can’t imagine how awful this must be for the families of those killed. My heart goes out to them. I don’t know how on earth a sick, disturbed young man was able to get hold of a gun.”

She said her nephew was “always a disturbed child” and “something has to be done about gun laws in America.”

Of course, if any of Rodger’s victims also had a gun, they might have been able to stop his killing spree — but of course, that shouldn’t be mentioned, because it pokes a hole in the convenient scapegoat the family is clinging desperately to. It’s also worth pointing out that three of his seven victims were stabbed to death, so by the Rodger family’s logic, should we ban knives now as well?
