An Obamacare Alternative For Mitt Romney

You often hear the words “repeal and replace” come up when Republicans talk about Obamacare. However, most conservatives don’t note what the replacement will be. Here’s the nucleus of a considerably more effective plan[1].

Towards that end, we should push a bill that will include: tort reform, streamlining the regulations that make bringing a new drug to market so slow and expensive, health care savings accounts, and allowing health insurance companies from anywhere in America to compete for business in any state.

In addition, we should be giving tax credits to individuals instead of companies for health care[2].

This would make health care portable and because more than a few individuals would choose to get cheaper plans rather than the “gold plated plans” at many big companies, it would enable more Americans to be covered for the same money, which would drive down prices.

We can have better, cheaper health care in this country that covers more Americans without destroying the quality or putting overbearing bureaucrats in charge of the system. We can do that not with more government, but by empowering Americans with more choice and competition.

Obamacare will reduce choices, increase costs, and give unelected bureaucrats more control over your health care. These changes would increase choice, dramatically reduce cost, give you more control over your own health care, and would also cover more people than Obamacare without having to shred the Constitution to figure out a way it can be done legally.
