Paisley Hatfield’s parents had prepared themselves to hear the worst news possible— that their daughter was going to die.
Now, they are crediting God with healing their daughter.
As WCPO News reports, Carissa and Matt Hatfield and noticed something wrong with their daughter Paisley’s smile soon after she was born.
“We noticed her eye,” said Carissa. “When she would cry, her eye would not shut all the way. It would stay open, and when she started to smile, the same side of her mouth would not move.”
Worried about their child’s health, the Hatfields took Paisley to a pediatrician, who recommended a scan. Unfortunately, when doctors took a closer look, they found an unidentifiable mass near the base of the baby’s brain.
Matt and Carissa asked their friends and family around the country to pray for Paisley as they took their daughter to Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center for a biopsy.
That was when the perplexed doctor returned with the results of the procedure.
“As soon as he came in, he sat down, he was just shaking his head,” Carissa told WCPO. “He said, ‘Your prayers must have worked, because when I went in to get that biopsy… nothing was there.’”
The tumor had simply disappeared, and doctors were at a loss to explain why.
Though some have suggested that the original scan must have been at fault, the hospital insists that it was done by one of their best radiologists.
“Doctors at Children’s had expected the worst— a malignant tumor,” said the hospital’s official statement. “But when surgeons reached the spot where the suspected tumor was visible on the scan, they found nothing. They couldn’t have been happier to tell the good news to the Hatfield family.”
Matt and Carissa Hatfield are finding a new meaning in the concept of Thanksgiving week, and don’t have too look far for the reason behind their daughter’s amazing recovery.
“A man of God like I am, [I’m] just looking for some explanation, but it’s a true miracle, it’s a true healing,” Matt told WCPO.
Little Paisley went into Cincinnati’s Children’s Hospital for a biopsy as her parents waited in dread. Except that when the results came back, the mass was entirely gone. The doctors were simply shocked. They couldn’t believe it. It was asked if the scan was wrong, but it was done by a top radiologist who doesn’t make that kind of mistake. This time prayers were answered and little Paisley was spared. That is truly a Thanksgiving miracle. These parents believe in God and the strength of their faith. Paisley got a reprieve and was touched by God’s grace. Thanksgiving will never be the same for them and thanks will truly be given.
