Mom Disconnects Safety Mechanism On Zip Line Before Falling To Her Death! [VIDEO]

This is incredibly sad.[1] Tina Werner was a 59 year-old sports enthusiast who went to Go Ape Tree Top Adventures in Delaware to ride the zip lines and swing through the trees. Climbers go as high as 50 ft. in the park and are put through a safety course beforehand. Instructors are constantly on hand helping people through the setup. For some unknown reason, Tina unhooked herself from the safety mechanism and fell 40 feet to her death. They tried to save her, but her injuries were lethal. Now her daughter is coping and grieving with loss.

A woman who fell 40 feet to her death from a zip line platform had disconnected herself from the safety system, the attraction’s operator said Thursday.

Delaware State Police investigators are investigating how Tina Werner tumbled off the platform at the Go Ape Tree Top Adventure attraction in Lums Pond State Park on Wednesday.

Participants at Go Ape courses are equipped with climbing harnesses and two sets of ropes with carabiners that they unclip and clip to safety wires in sequence as they move through the trees.

The family was Christian – the daughter seems devout. When I first looked at this, I thought it was a suicide. The zip line adventure was the last item on her bucket list. I wonder if she was ill… it just doesn’t make any sense why she would unhook like that. She had to know she would fall to her death.

Whatever the reason, it is a tragic loss and my thoughts and prayers are with her daughter. I know what loss is like and she is dealing with it much better than I did. Rest in peace Tina.
