Not Again! American Airlines Employee And Passenger THREATEN Each Other Over Crying Woman [VIDEO]

It seems we can’t escape headlines about chaos on flights[2]. Last week during boarding on an American Airlines flight between San Francisco and Dallas, an incident occurred. It is alleged that an American Airlines employee took a passenger’s baby stroller away as she was boarding with her 15 month-old twins and did so in such a manner that he almost hit the passenger’s baby with it. She was carrying at least one of her babies at the time. The woman was in tears. Strollers are not permitted in airplane cabins. But that didn’t seem to justify the abrupt manner in which the American employee handled the situation.

Another passenger, a man, stood up and said to the American employee, “You do that to me, and I will knock you flat!” A verbal confrontation ensued between the men, with the American employee inviting the offended passenger to, “Try it, hit me. Come on, bring it on.”

American Airlines handled the incident immediately, stating;

“We have seen the video and have already started an investigation to obtain the facts. What we see on this video does not reflect our values or how we care for our customers. We are deeply sorry for the pain we have caused this passenger and her family and to any other customers affected by the incident. We are making sure all of her family’s needs are being met while she is in our care. After electing to take another flight, we are taking special care of her and her family and upgrading them to first class for the remainder of their international trip.

The actions of our team member captured here do not appear to reflect patience or empathy, two values necessary for customer care. In short, we are disappointed by these actions. The American team member has been removed from duty while we immediately investigate this incident.”

The flight attendant has been suspended.

It seems that civility is dead. Can we not handle these situations with grace and kindness? Why be so abrupt and rude with a passenger who clearly has a lot on her plate? It is important to enforce the rules. They are there for the safety of all passengers. It is also important to do so with civility. It is time to take a collective deep breath and treat each other with the grace we’d want extended to us. No matter how many airline or other rules there are, and how often they need to be enforced, we’d all be much better off if we’d remember that the Golden Rule still applies.

In John Hawkins’ new book ‘101 Things All Young Adults Should Know’, he teaches in chapter 16, “Be nice until it’s time to not be nice.” It was not yet time to not be nice. This passenger hadn’t done anything to warrant that treatment. If you’d like a copy of this great new book, here’s how you can get yours!
