This is a blindingly hot story that should be front page news if only for the furious denials it will undoubtedly prompt from the White House:
“(Obama said) the problem is, . . . if we secure the border, then you all won’t have any reason to support ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’” [Audible gasps were heard throughout the audience.] Sen. Kyl continued, “In other words, they’re holding it hostage. They don’t want to secure the border unless and until it is combined with ‘comprehensive immigration reform.’” — Republican Senator, Jon Kyl
Let’s cut right to the chase, shall we? Yes, Obama probably said exactly what Kyl is accusing : him : of : saying. But before you criticize him too harshly, I’d bet George Bush, in a private conversation, would have said exactly the same thing when he was in the White House.
Why do you think the border never gets secured? Why do : you : think the Obama : Administration is dragging : its : feet on building the border fence? Why is it that cracking down on illegal immigration is extremely popular and politicians from both parties say they support doing it, but it never seems to happen?
It’s because despite what they say publicly, there are a lot of people in D.C., in both parties, who have no interest in stopping the flow of illegals. You have Democrats who view illegals as future votes and people from both parties who are being paid off in campaign donations by crooked businessmen to keep the illegals coming. So, they talk a good game, but the only thing they ever do is talk.
Now, you may think, “Well, : gee, if they’re insisting on comprehensive reform in exchange for securing the border, maybe we should just do it?” If that’s what you think, you’re being suckered by a bait and switch. Barack Obama has absolutely no intention of really securing the border. George Bush had no interest in doing it either. So, if you sign on for comprehensive reform, just like the country did during the Reagan : Administration, you’ll get the amnesty for illegals, but even though “everyone agrees” that we’ve got to : secure the border, mysteriously it’ll never happen. Then a few years later, we’ll be told that we need even more comprehensive immigration reform — but this time, it’ll be different (Wink wink).
If that sounds cynical, well, what I can say; that’s how stupid they think the American people are on this issue. Judging by how afraid even these arrogant Democrats in congress seem to be of comprehensive reform, I’d say that the public is a lot smarter than the elites in D.C .are giving them credit for being.
