The headlines have been dominated by the recently released Trump recording and Sunday night’s presidential debate. The coverage has been so heavy that people could be forgiven for thinking that there was literally nothing else going on in the world. Unfortunately, Iran didn’t get the memo[1].

Last week, the Obama administration suspended its diplomatic talks with Russia and went so far as accusing Russia of committing war crimes in Syria, and hacking into the United States computers to meddle with our elections. Much of this is thanks to the groundwork Hillary Clinton laid as Secretary of State. But Russia isn’t the only threat we need to worry about.

Iran, who Obama just gave millions upon millions of dollars to, has just attacked the United States.

Neither missile hit the ship, thankfully. But it is clear that the ship was targeted, according to Department of Defense officials. This aggression comes just one week after the United States Navy had to intervene after a United Arab Emirates auxiliary ship was destroyed by Houthis off the coast of Yemen.

A Pentagon spokesman confirmed the attack on our ship. “We assess the missiles were launched from Houthi-controlled territory in Yemen,” Captain Jeff Davis said. “The United States remains committed to ensuring freedom of navigation everywhere in the world, and we will continue to take all necessary steps to ensure the safety of our ships and our service members.”

The ship, the USS Mason, was forced to deploy “on board defensive measures.” The missiles ended up striking the water, although it’s not clear if that is due to the defensive measures or if the missiles would have struck the water anyway. The ship was undergoing routine operations in international waters when it was attacked. The White House condemned the attack, but otherwise has done nothing. Oh, wait, that’s not true — they’ve eased the sanctions on Iran.

But sure. Let’s keep analyzing every facial expression, hand gesture and phrase uttered at the debate. There’s nothing more important in the world going on at all!
