Fox News Might Get Competition: Media Powerhouses Reportedly Creating New Conservative Network

Just as I predicted[1], Fox News is imploding and people are heading for the exits. Not only are there never ending sexual harassment suits now, racism suits have also been filed. Fox News has been stripped of most of their top talent and word on the street is that Sean Hannity may not finish out the year. But a new development has arisen… it sure didn’t take long for this to happen. Rumor has it a new conservative network is forming. No word on who is behind it, but executives out there are all abuzz over it.

I’m even hearing that Roger Ailes is involved in this and something about Milo Yiannopoulos receiving $12 million in some kind of deal. None of that is verified, it’s all whispers and you know how crazy that can get. But the one sure thing is that someone is stirring the pot and putting the old band back together for a conservative news network. Just how conservative it will actually be remains to be seen. But given Fox’s leftist bent as of late, it would surely be better than what we have now. They say the new network could immediately be front and center in 85 million homes.

From Mediaite[3]:

On the heels of major shakeups at the Fox News Network, an alternative conservative network is being actively discussed amongst conservative fat cats.

A well-placed source close to the proposal tells Mediaite that serious discussions are underway to create an alternative conservative cable network on the belief that the Fox News Network is moving too far to the left. The source, who is engaged in the talks, says a meeting is planned for today with two prominent high-powered television executives, some underperforming conservative networks and people who have an interest and the ability to fund a new network.

The potential aim? Putting “the old band” back together. There are certainly plenty of (out-of-work?) conservative powerhouses to pick from that could star on a new network, and perhaps even some executives from within Fox News who might be lured by the new opportunity. Could the new channel include stars like the ousted Bill O’Reilly, who didn’t waste much time hitting the podcast waves after he was fired amid a sexual harassment scandal? Could Tomi Lahren, the conservative mega star, who was recently sidelined at The Blaze also take on a prominent role? The exact “who” won’t be clear until the deal is more defined but the source says the pitch is that the network could immediately reach at least 85 million homes.

Some sort of meeting went down Friday between high-powered television executives, conservative networks and investors. Wonder what came out of that? There is now a long list of conservative talent out there that would love to find a network home that allows them to be themselves. Bill O’Reilly is at the top of that heap. The Murdoch boys are on a mission to purge Fox News of the conservatives that are left there and Sean Hannity is smart enough to see the writing on the wall. It’s sad it’s come to this… it didn’t need to be this way.

On Thursday, New York Magazine‘s Gabe Sherman, reported that “sweeping management changes” may be coming to the Fox network as well. Scuttlebutt has it that the network’s co-President Bill Shine has his neck on the chopping block. Sean Hannity tweeted this:

More from Mediaite:

“I just don’t see Fox News and Sean having a long relationship. If Sean becomes available, you have 100 percent turnover in primetime and a huge opportunity,” a television executive, who didn’t want to be identified, but is involved in some of the talks, told Mediaite.

“I’m working on it (the new conservative channel) hot and heavy,” the source said. “It’s live, it’s real.” The new channel could come to fruition within the next 10 to 12 months, the executive said.

A savvy businessperson is likely to be behind this… it’s a golden opportunity to corner a huge segment of the news market. In John Hawkins’ new book, ‘101 Things All Young Adults Should Know’[5], he teaches in chapter 51 of the book, “Prepare in case it all goes wrong.” Everything has pretty much gone wrong at Fox News now. It will be interesting to watch the rest of its leftist decline and what comes forward to replace it.
