I dare you not to need a hankie over this one.[3] Americans overall love their warriors in blue – the men and women who serve and protect fearlessly in the face of danger and possible death. We should be doing this for officers every day. Losing so many this week has broken my heart and brought me to tears many times. And this is just the beginning I fear. You can’t help but smile when you see little ones hug police officers and others give them cupcakes, donuts, pizza and flowers. They are respected and loved, regardless of what evil people do.

In the face of all the ugliness of the last two days, maybe we need to see there’s a some good kind people reaching out there.

All over the country[5], Americans are reaching out with gestures of love and gratitude to police officers. A steady stream of people are flooding police departments across the land to give encouragement, offer a hug and a treat, and to let them know that we cherish each and every one of them. Some are even having a change of heart after the tragic loss of life in Dallas. If you can, go to your police officers and thank them. Let them know they are not alone and that we stand with them. They put it all on the line for us, it’s the least we can do.
