Michelle Obama Shamelessly Targets Mississippi ‘Religious Freedom’ Bill in Commencement Speech

What is so darned ‘rare’ about Mooch mouthing off over the “religious freedom” bill in Mississippi at a commencement speech? She’s a radical leftist… of course she’s going to sound off concerning the bill. Mississippi Gov. Phil Bryant signed the bill into law. The legislation, HB 1523, promises that the state government will not punish people who refuse to provide services to people because of a religious opposition to same-sex marriage, extramarital sex or transgender people. Supporters say it protects the rights of people who are opposed to homosexuality, but who now live in a country where same-sex marriage is a legal right. Of course, liberals are for gay rights and they are against Christians having the First Amendment right to freedom of religion. That is why Michelle Obama is screeching over this.

From ABC:

In a rare entrance into a politically charged controversy, first lady Michelle Obama used a commencement speech Saturday at Jackson State University in Mississipppi to directly target the state’s recently-passed “religious freedom” bill.

“We see it right here in Mississippi — just two weeks ago -– how swiftly progress can hurtle backward,” Obama said. “How easy it is to single out a small group and marginalize them because of who they are or who they love.”

Obama made the comment following an impassioned revival of the state and university’s stained history with regard to civil rights.

“So we’ve got to stand side by side with all our neighbors –- straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender; Muslim, Jew, Christian, Hindu immigrant, Native American — because the march for civil rights isn’t just about African Americans, it’s about all Americans,” she said. “It’s about making things more just, more equal, more free for all our kids and grandkids. That’s the story you all have the opportunity to write. That’s what this historic university has prepared you to do.”

The ones being marginalized here are Christians who violate their religious beliefs when they are forced to conduct gay marriages, etc. Others marginalized are those who don’t want transgenders in restrooms, locker rooms or showers with women and/or children. Those who stand against perverts, rapists, voyeurs and pedophiles are the ones Mooch is trying to silence. This has much more to do with religious freedom, morality and safety than it does civil rights. You do not have a constitutional right to use whatever bathroom you want or to force someone to marry you. The state has received growing criticism from human rights organizations and businesses over the controversial law, saying it restricts the rights of the LGBT community. In a press conference Friday in the United Kingdom, President Obama was asked about a recent travel advisory to British LGBT citizens cautioning them of the newly passed law, he said it “should be overturned.” No sir, it should not… you should be removed from office and that is coming.
