Comrade Obama Sends His Love to Our Troops

No one makes greater sacrifices for our country and the principles of liberty it embodies than the brave men and women of our military. In return, our liberal rulers heap scorn on them — starting from the very top.

Comrade Obama’s latest Supreme Court choice — the ultra-Left’s answer to Harriet Miers — has the advantage of having left a very light paper trail, having never even served as a judge. But we do know this about her: she hates the military[1].

Elena Kagan’s most notable foray into public life was kicking military recruiters off of Harvard’s campus. … As the dean of Harvard’s law school, Kagan fought to bar military recruiters from the university’s campus. Her reasoning? Even with two wars in progress, she contended, Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell should disqualify the US military from having any association with the school. “I abhor the military’s discriminatory recruitment policy,” she said, describing it as a “moral injustice of the first order.”

Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell was of course a Clinton directive, according to which homosexuals were asked not to destroy morale by making a pageant of their sexual perversions.

Critics say Kagan’s legal arguments on the matter are so preposterous that they raise doubts about her ability to serve on the bench. And indeed when the Supreme Court later rejected her position on military recruiting at Harvard, it did so unanimously.

That is, Kagan is to the left even of the unhinged dingbat Ruth Bader Ginsburg.

Beginning in 2004, Kagan changed established Harvard policy and barred recruiters from the school’s career center. The Pentagon responded by invoking the Solomon Amendment, a 1994 law that explicitly requires universities that receive federal funding to allow military representatives at least as much access to campus as any other group. With Harvard’s $400 million in annual grants on the line, Kagan was forced to surrender.

Even after she supposedly surrendered, she filed an amicus brief, continuing her jihad against those who lay their lives on the line to make her pampered ivory tower existence possible. But at least her appointment makes Obama’s attitudes toward the military clear.

President Barack Obama — who came to power with the help of government employee unions across the nation and has lavished on them hundreds of billions in stimulus funds to keep them on federal, state and local payrolls with no strings attached — is moving to cut spending on salaries for military personnel.

Meanwhile, salaries for useless government bureaucrats have been skyrocketing[3].
