Tragedy struck at Disney World when a two year-old boy was killed by an alligator at the Seven Seas Lagoon, which prompted all the world’s alligator and parenting experts to weigh in on how this could have been prevented. But one mom has spoken up, with a powerful and chilling response that shows we should have compassion for this family, rather than judgment — it could have happened to anyone.
From Western Journalism:
In the aftermath of the deadly alligator attack on 2-year-old Lane Graves Tuesday night, Jennifer Venditti realized that her own son, Channing, had been playing in the exact area an hour or so earlier.
The Graves family was walking along Seven Seas Lagoon at the Grand Floridian Resort and Spa around 9:20 p.m. Tuesday when an alligator emerged from the water and snatched the child.
Lane’s body was recovered from the lagoon where he had drowned.
Venditti shared photos of Channing playing in the same area of the lagoon where Lane was dragged away by the alligator.
People don’t like to believe that something could ever just be an accident — someone always has to be to blame — because if it was truly just an accident, then that means it couldn’t have been prevented. And nothing is more terrifying than feeling like you’re powerless and have no control.
