Former Maryland Gov: Cops ‘Very Fearful’ That Marilyn Mosby ‘Does Not Have Their Back’

What happens when government authorities value thugs above cops? Well, you end up with police officers afraid to do their jobs, which is what’s happening in Baltimore right now, as cops are afraid that Marilyn Mosby does not have their back.

Former Maryland Gov. Bob Ehrlich defended Baltimore and Maryland police officers Monday night on “The O’Reilly Factor,” saying the units are “very fearful” state attorney Marilyn Mosby “does not have their back.”

Ehrlich also said police officers are “not feeling the love from Mosby,” adding that while the cops want to do their jobs, they are going through a “slow down.”

“Cops are not feeling the love from the state’s attorney,” Ehrlich told O’Reilly. “This is art, not science when you are making questionable calls. The police have to know when they use their discretion, they are not putting themselves up against the wall, that they in turn will not be arrested.”

“Arrests are down. They’ll answer a 911 call, but when it comes to real policing, they are very fearful that state’s attorney does not have their back, and to the large extent…the same goes for the police commissioner,” he continued.

“You’ve heard the phrase ‘work to rule,’ the teachers go through sort of a slow down. That’s what it is,” Ehrlich said. “Do I think it’s word of mouth? Do I think it is semi-organized? Of course. They want to do their jobs, by the way. This is not some, ‘Oh, we’re doing this for show.’ This is ‘Hey, given the state’s attorney word and her actions, we’re not sure she’s going to have our back when we make innocent mistakes — when we make, or sometimes, mere negligent mistakes.’”

… “There’s an element of resentment,” Ehrlich said. “You recall the video footage of the police backing up in those alleys, backing up in those streets as rocks and bottles were coming in. A lot of those officers were injured. The bottom line was, I guess from the top, is I guess property damage is going to be acceptable here, although that was sort of mixed messaged…that’s the bottom line.”

Thanks to the ever-present anti-cop mentality, arrests in Baltimore are done, and as a result, the murder rate is the highest it’s been in over a decade. Maybe liberal government authorities should remember that next time they consider siding with thugs, rioters, and criminals over the people who risk their lives every day to keep our cities safe.
