Al Sharpton Says That the New York Post Shouldn’t Attack Him for Shaking Down Businesses Because They Give Him Money

The New York Post should perhaps have checked to see if they gave money to Al Sharpton before accusing him of shaking down businesses. Funnily enough, it turns out that their corporate owner donates to Sharpton — whoops!

Al Sharpton says the New York Post should not have accused him of shaking down businesses because he also shakes down the paper’s corporate owner.

“SHAKE DOWN AL” screamed the Post’s Sunday front page. “How Rev gets paid not to cry ‘racism!’”

The story ripped Sharpton for going easy on companies who donate to his National Action Network.

But in an exclusive interview with The Daily Caller, Sharpton’s central defense was that News Corp — the company that owns the New York Post — also fills his coffers.

“I am not going to let them get around the fact that their company has been involved, has donated money, had us on their board of diversity.”

The Post is right that Sharpton shakes down businesses, makes them pay him for the privilege of him not accusing them of being racist. But they’ve also given Sharpton ammunition to use against them, so their very valid point will be ignored by almost everyone who doesn’t already know that Sharpton is a greedy, race-hustling con man.
