These days exercising the natural right to religious freedom as protected by the Constitution by resisting the liberal campaign to erase all traces of Christianity doesn’t come cheap:
An Ohio school district has agreed to keep a portrait of Jesus Christ off school property and pay a $95,000 fine in the face of legal pressure from the American Civil Liberties Union.
The Jackson City School District, located in Jackson, reached a deal on Friday after the ACLU, along with the Wisconsin-based Freedom from Religion Foundation, sued the district in February, citing “unconstitutional” actions and charging that students and visitors to the school “will continue to suffer permanent, severe and irreparable harm and injury,” according to the lawsuit.
You read that correctly. The First Amendment’s guarantee of religious liberty is “unconstitutional” according the Constitution’s righteous guardians at the ACLU. George Orwell would have called the organization the Ministry of Constitutional Preservation.
The picture had been hanging in Jackson’s high school since 1947 as part of a “Hall of Honor” display meant to highlight famous historical figures.
But Jesus is not a famous historical figure, or at least won’t be when liberals are done airbrushing history.
The settlement was profitable for the thugs of the ACLU and the Freedom From Religion Foundation. Since the school doesn’t share their deep pockets, it couldn’t afford justice in court. The portrait was obediently removed, and the school agreed to pay the $95,000 directly to the leftists who forced them to take it down.
