Group says Christian Air Force general must be court-martialed for mentioning faith [Video]

And the persecution of Christians in the military[1] marches on with the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) leading the charge. What’s unforgivable here is the crime of violating this general’s right to religious freedom guaranteed to him under the First Amendment of the US Constitution. He also has a right to free speech – yes, even in the military. God save these United States indeed. The MRFF wants this general and any who helped him with his speech thrown in prison and made a harsh example of for speaking about his faith at a National Day of Prayer Task Force. Go figure. Being persecuted for advocating those very freedoms that we fight for – surreal.

From the Daily Mail:

An Air Force general who recently spoke about how God has guided his career should be court-martialed, a civil liberties group has claimed.

Major General Craig Olson used a speech at the National Day of Prayer Task Force event on May 7, to credit God for his accomplishments in the military, referring to himself as a ‘redeemed believer in Christ.’

The address prompted the Military Religious Freedom Foundation (MRFF) to launch a vitriolic attack of Maj Gen Olson, calling for the two-star general to be court-martialed and ‘aggressively and very visibly brought to justice for his unforgivable crimes and transgressions.’

As reported by Air Force Times[2], the group authored a letter to Chief of Staff General Mark Walsh, arguing that Olson’s speech violates rules within the Air Force prohibiting airmen from endorsing a particular faith or belief.

Posted on the group’s website, the letter states: ‘This demand letter is sent to you on behalf of countless members of the United States Air Force who are utterly disgusted and shocked by the brazenly illicit and wholly unconstitutional, fundamentalist Christian proselytizing recently perpetrated, on international television (‘GOD TV’), and streaming all over the Internet and in full military uniform, by USAF Major General Craig S. Olson on Thursday, May 7, 2015 during a VERY public speech for a private Christian organization (The ‘National Day of Prayer Task Force’: NDPTF) headed up by Focus on the Family founder, Dr James Dobson’s, wife Shirley Dobson.’

The group wants Maj Gen Olson investigated and punished ‘to the full extent of the law’.

The group also wants other service members who helped Olson to be investigated.

During Olson’s 23-minute talk, Maj Gen Olson spoke of ‘flying complex aircraft; doing complex nuclear missions — I have no ability to do that. God enabled me to do that.

‘He put me in charge of failing programs worth billions of dollars,’ Olson said. ‘I have no ability to do that, no training to do that. God did that.

‘He sent me to Iraq to negotiate foreign military sales deals through an Arabic interpreter.

‘I have no ability to do that. I was not trained to do that. God did all of that.’

At the end of his speech, Olson asked those in attendance to pray for Defense Department leaders and troops preparing to be deployed.

Maj Gen Olson is the program executive officer at Hanscom Air Force Base in Massachusetts, where he is responsible for more than 2,200 personnel.

He was commissioned in 1982 after graduating from the US Air Force Academy and has extensive operational, flight test and acquisition experience.

Welcome to Orwell – to 1984… up is down and black is white. Do you recognize your country or military any more? At the end of his speech, Olson asked those in attendance to pray for Defense Department leaders and troops preparing to be deployed. He knew they would come after him, but his faith dictated his actions. Good for the general. I’m proud of him for donning his military uniform and speaking about God and his faith. What shames me is the weak, evil attitude of those controlling the military these days and who are blatant Marxists. If there are rules within the Air Force prohibiting airmen from endorsing a particular faith or belief. they are wrong and unconstitutional. General Olson had the conviction of his faith to proclaim his love for God. He should not be investigated, persecuted and imprisoned for doing so.
